Victorian Open Garden Scheme

May 12, 2018 - May 13, 2018

As described by the Victorian Open Garden Scheme Red Gums ‘ an inspiring six acre garden designed by Sam Cox to complement the large stand of remnant Red Gums that sit amongst 3 waterholes in the front garden. This is one of the largest stands of remnant Red Gums in the area.’

‘Planting areas were created to ‘impersonate’ nature, with soft curving lines and generous sized garden beds filled with an abundance of different species of acacias, banksias, grevilleas, leptospermums and eucalypts.’

‘Visitors are encouraged to meander amongst the beds and weave their way through casuarinas, correas and poas.’

‘The garden is a harmonious array of texture, colour and structure. Other feature plants include an old Moreton Bay Fig and orchard area, as well as an underground cellar.’

Red Gums has featured on ABC’s Gardening Australia and opened to the public on many occasions over its life. Sam Cox will be attending and giving a talk on Sunday at 11am.

Entry $8 adults / $5 students

Address: 30 Drakes Road, Drysdale, Vic.
